There are several medications available in the market to treat the condition though. Synthetic drugs like Minoxidil and Finasteride are topical preparations meant for application to the bald spots. They help in the regrowth of hair which is quite minimal initially. Prolonged use gives good results.

There are certain myths too that are associated to this condition in women. For instance, it is said that the process of hair loss can affect the periods of any women undergoing it. This is not true, as hair loss is not associated with gonadotropic hormones in the body. Another such myth associated with hair loss in men is that the tendency to lose hair is generally passed down to an individual by her paternal lineage.

The fact is that even though balding is genetic, the inheritance from one’s father is not. It can be inherited from either of the parents.
